Let’s start here…

I thought it would be appropriate to start off by introducing my (very very young and still growing) collection of handmade earrings.

Your name? Miran Kaleigh

How did you get started? I first started making earrings in high school. I was a newbie and didn’t know what I was doing. It was just a fun way to de-stress. Then, real life started to hit me, and the earring-making was no more. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I have had a pretty difficult year so far. It’s been very high-pressure, stressful, busy, chaotic.. you get the picture. I needed something to do that wasn’t work/school related…
I take after my grandmother, and constantly need to be doing something with my hands. And so, I took a deep breath, walked into a craft supply store, and spent way too much money. But it was worth it!

Other than making stuff – what do you do? I am a full-time violin teacher/student/performer. I love my babies (students) and count it a blessing that I can teach little ones about music! I am in school pursuing a degree in classical musical performance! But when I’m not doing that (or making earrings), I’m with my amazingly supportive group of friends – our activities usually centered around some sort of home-cooked meal or music event. Oh – I listen to music religiously. Other than those things? I procrastinate a lot, and I’m great at it.

1.  My name is Miran
2.  I’ve played the violin for almost twenty years. Don’t know what I would do without music.
3.  I have this problem… where I have too many interests. I’m a completely dangerously curious person, especially when it comes to good old arts and crafts. In the past: block printing, photography, painting, drawing, knitting, sewing, making greeting cards, etc…
4. I love food.  I love cooking (I’ve been bad lately due to a crazy schedule this year – but not to worry! The boyfriend, friends, and family take good care of me!) Also love finding awesome restaurants. A great blog to follow (especially if you live in New York or will be visiting soon) : MyNameIsYeh : It’s an adorable, funny, and delicious blog written by a colleague of mine.
5. I am from the most magical city known to man.  New York City! I’m currently away finishing up school, but I cannot wait to go back to my home city.  So. Home. Sick.
